Travel Support

We are pleased to offer travel support, especially for early-career researchers such as PhD students and junior post-doctoral fellows. Travel support is available at two levels: full and partial travel support.

Recipients of travel support are required to attend the full program of BLAH8.

Since the costs are paid out of Japanese public funds, strict regulation regarding transportation expenses and reimbursements must be applied. If you receive full travel support, which covers reimbursement of travel expenses, you must adhere to strict guidelines regarding the extension of your stay. Should you participate in the entire program (a prerequisite for obtaining travel support), you may be allowed to extend your stay by up to 2 - 4 days (on your own budget). The specific duration will be determined based on individual cases. Please be aware that extension of your stay requires prior consultation with the organizers (blah8-oc@linkedannotation.org). Failing to do so may result in cancellation of transportation cost reimbursement.

If you're considering a longer extension of your stay either before or after the event, you should apply for Partial travel support which does not include transportation support hence allows more flexibility regarding your extended stay on your budget.

Please be aware that there's a limited capacity for each type of travel support. If you can cover your own overseas travel expenses, we recommend applying for partial support, which may have a higher acceptance rate. Remember, only one author per proposal is eligible to apply for travel support.

How to apply

Authors submitting project proposals are eligible to apply for travel support during registration. To express interest in this assistance, please indicate your intention to seek travel support (in the registration form) and provide the following details:
