Call for papers
To promote publication with outputs from BLAH8, two venues are prepared. Participants in BLAH8 are invited to submit papers, e. g., report of the hackathon outputs, to either of:
Genomics & Informatics, a platinum open access journal, for which no article processing charge (APC) is required. All the papers will be immediately included in the PMC open access subset and indexed by PubMed and Scopus. Each submission to the BLAH8 special collection will undergo a review process that is fully informed by the BLAH8 context. Opting for this venue would be a good choice if you seek rapid publication in a PubMed-indexed journal.
BioHackrxiv, a preprint server, which is powered by OSF preprints and indexed by EuropeanPMC. Among various preprint servers, it stands out for its bio-hackathon-friendly approach. Manuscripts for this server can be written in Markdown. If your aim is to initially publish a preprint on a European PMC-indexed server, while keeping the option open for later publication in a more prestigious journal, BioHackrxiv would be a good choice.
Note that the primary aim of offering two specific venues is to facilitate swift and smooth publication for participants, not to mandate their choice of publication venue. Participants are welcome to select a different preferred venue if they wish. However, if authors choose to publish their work, which includes outcomes from BLAH8, in a venue other than the two suggested, we kindly request them to inform us. This allows us to acknowledge and catalog these publications as contributions to and achievements of BLAH8.
